Dear God,
We pray that tomorrow, November 4, 2008, we will be delivered from the evil under which we have been living for the past eight years.
We pray for a President who will represent ALL of the people instead of a small minority of right wing religious ideologues and big corporations.
We pray for a President who will govern, not by fear and lies, but by truth and reasoned argument.
We pray for a President who has read the Constitution of the United States and knows that the Executive Branch of the government is not also the Legislative Branch.
We pray for a President who is capable of restoring the rule of law.
We pray for a President who believes that disagreeing with your government is one of the highest forms of patriotism and a cherished free speech right.
We pray for a President who understands and supports the notion that government and religion should be separate.
We pray for a President who believes that competency, not ideology, should be a determining factor in who is appointed to a government position.
We pray for a President who can think critically, believes debate is valuable and is capable of engaging in discussions with thoughtful dialogue.
We pray for a President who will not send this country into thoughtless wars and who believes that the highest honor we can bestow among our military personnel is to TRULY take care of them when they return home.
We pray for a President who believes that pilfering the public treasury for personal or corporate gain is wrong and illegal.
We pray for a President who understands that torture is torture is torture – that torture by any other name is torture.
We pray for a President who knows that a far right Supreme Court is not only a threat to our personal liberties but is also a threat to laws and regulations protecting consumers, workers, the elderly and others.
We pray for a President who knows that we must, once and for all, seriously tackle alternative energy and who knows that “drill, baby, drill” solves none of our problems.
God, there is so much more that we would like to ask of you – but we think you get the idea.
We look forward to Election Day when we will dance in the streets and cry joyful noises unto the world.
Amen.
Yours truly,
Miriam and Lisa

The Haunted House
Ahhh, Halloween gone again so quickly. We had a successful Halloween last night. The triumvirate was out (us, Tom and Nicole, Rob and Angie). We broke our record for trick or treaters – gave out 86 bags of candy and one to a homeless person. That’s 20 more than last year. In fact, I had to bag more candy during the evening to keep up with demand.
The mix of kids was good – old and young. One mother said this was the third year she has brought her kids here – she loved the yard – we found out from our neighbors that we are known as “The Haunted House”. There was one young boy, dressed as spiderman, who wouldn’t come up to the door. He said, “I’m scared. Can’t you just throw the candy?” And Miriam did. Between runs we chatted with our neighbors. We also had some visitors – Pam and Angie came by with their new family addition “Spook Doggie Dog” – a new puppy! He was precious.
After the closing down the attraction, we visited over at Tom and Nicole’s – they were having their annual Halloween party. Drank some good apple cider – made with Apply Brandy – I’m writing this down so I can remember to purchase it next time I stop by to pick Bailey’s. It was delicious. Had a neat graveyard chocolate cake with tombstones and body parts.
All in all, a successful and scary Halloween. Til next year – adieu.
TaDa!

Special Thank You
We had a doggie incident this past Friday evening – and we want to send a very special thank you to our friends – you know who you are – who provided us with much needed support and help. We do appreciate you and thank you so much.
Next Up – Halloween

She Came, She Spoke, She Rocked!
Just got back from the Obama rally. Wow, Michelle Obama is a great speaker – she delivered a wonderful speech. I tell you, Barack needs to win this election – and if he does we are going to party, party, party. We walked to the rally from our house and it’s a wonderful thing to see so many Obama signs around the neighborhood.
The crowd was huge – and so diverse. It shows you how we can come together with the right leader. We need this man and this woman in the White House.
Si se puede! Yes we can!
