Our illegitimate supreme court (it doesn’t deserve to be capitalized anymore), denied the writ of certiorari to Kim Davis who was appealing a lower court decision. From the original suit:

When Kim Davis was County Clerk for Rowan County, Kentucky, the Supreme Court recognized a constitutional right to same-sex marriage. One of Davis’s duties as County Clerk was to issue marriage licenses. But she believed same- sex marriage was immoral, so she stopped issuing them. Plaintiffs, two couples who sought licenses and were rebuffed, sued her for depriving them of their right to marry.

So, Kim Davis appealed all the way to the supreme court which denied her appeal today. But Thomas and Alito indicated that this is not over and the court will need to address this with a better “cleaner” case. The closing paragraph from Thomas:

This petition implicates important questions about the scope of our decision in Obergefell, but it does not cleanly present them. For that reason, I concur in the denial of certiorari. By choosing to privilege a novel constitutional right over the religious liberty interests explicitly protected in the First Amendment, and by doing so undemocratically, the Court has created a problem that only it can fix. Until then, Obergefell will continue to have “ruinous consequences for religious liberty.” 576 U. S., at 734 (THOMAS, J., dissenting).

Thomas is saying that same-sex marriage violates religious freedom. Bring us a good case and we’ll overturn it or, at the very least, allow you to discriminate against same-sex couples. You know what also violates some people’s religious beliefs, Clarence? Inter-racial marriage. Because it’s the same goddamn reasoning. Let’s see you overturn Loving vs Virginia. Let’s see your marriage become null and void – you piece of shit.

Not only did McConnell and the GOP refuse to even give a hearing for Obama’s pick Merrick Garland, they’re ramming through (because they like to fuck the American people) Trump’s nominee ACB.

As a loyal reader, you know my thoughts on religion, particularly, organized religion. I support everyone being able to have their faith. I don’t support forcing me to live under the beliefs of that faith.

So, many evangelicals, particularly white evangelicals continue to support Trump because he’s “pro-life”. Of course, he’s not. But he knows to get those critical votes he’s going to claim pro-life.

The video below is from an evangelical pastor who lays out the reasons why any evangelical christian should NOT vote for Trump. He doesn’t say who to vote for – just says NOT FOR TRUMP.

Although, I still believe that a woman must have the power to control her own body, I respect his very well thought out argument. It’s a shame more christians aren’t like him.

Or, so they say. Of course, given the mendacity of this president and his administration one has to question if this is even true and a way to get out of the last two debates.

On the other hand, if true, then this president knowingly exposed people to the virus after he KNEW he was exposed. Instead of quarantining immediately, he attended a fundraiser in New Jersey where he DID NOT wear a mask. He has no regard for anyone except himself. I’m not willing to die for him…are you?

He is not fit to serve. Period.
