I used to have a Twitter account. But I didn’t use the Twitter app because I refused to be inundated with ads and unwanted tweets pushed into my feed. Instead, I used the Tweetbot app. It cost about $10 per year. I loved that the only tweets in my feed were ones I wanted to see.
Earlier this year Elon Musk purchased Twitter. I watched to see what he was going to do with it and as soon as he spewed his bullshit I decided to delete my Twitter account. Kind of like how the Catholics left the church after it institutionalized child rape and abuse? Oh wait, the Catholics didn’t leave…my bad.
It was sad to delete it but I could not support this platform anymore.
I had wondered what Musk might do with third party apps given how much of a piece of shit he is. Well, I didn’t have to wait too long. Just found out today. He banned third party apps from using the Twitter API. So, goodbye Tweetbot.
May Musk rot in hell.
